Matariki

I have just come across some photos taken  a while back regarding the Matariki celebrations. Room 3 worked with Mrs Daniel to create these stunning art works. Well done team.

Calendar Art

A Paragraph  on Room 3 Calendar art
By Me’a and Mikala

In Room 3 each  of us were allowed to choose what we wanted to do for our Calendar Art.

We went home to discuss our ideas with our parents. Then we were given 3 days to draw and plan a draft. On Thursday we brought  everything  that we needed and were  give the first block to complete our work. When we were finished Miss J put our artwork into a folder so our parents can see if they wanted to buy it. We are proud of our work.

Room 3’s Calendar Art
Room 3 started our Calendar Art with a draft that we brought from home. Everyone was allowed to choose what they wanted for their calendar. Though everyone had to talk to their parents so our parents got to choose as well. Most of us managed to finish ours in the day that we were given, but we still got some extra time later on. Some  people drew a picture and the others used real photos and glued them on. Most of us did pictures like Sammie and Joyce. Ayla did photos. Lots of people did photos because it was easier and more memorable.

Fwd: Blog Flags

These are the flags that represent the different cultures that are in Room 3. We talked about what is culture and even if we were born in New Zealand we may relate to other cultures. Some of use were the same so we all worked on a flag together. These flags are flying proud outside the class everyday.
You are welcome to come and check them out.

These flags are amazing and all the flags look like the real thing!

Year 5 Piha Trip

Hi everyone, we had such amazing weather for our Piha trip. The children had a great time in the water and also learning the 10 rules to remember to keep ourselves safe at the beach and also how to identify and what to do in a rip.

Please talk to your children and get them to tell you all about it. I think the boogie boarding was the favourite activity of the day.

These are just a couple of pictures taken on my phone on the day. Enjoy.
Miss J.

sounds of letters for spelling

Hi everyone, below is a link to a page that gives the individual sounds of the alphabet. The children listened to them today. Please talk to them about it and keep revisiting this site. By sounding out the individual letters in words they hear, they can then start writing them, hopefully improving their spelling.
