Buddy class with Rm 15
Hi everyone, we had buddy class with Room 15 today.
We taught them how to play frisbee golf. First we needed to teach them how to hold a frisbee. Next how to flick the wrist, to get it to fly. Some of the children got it, others just threw it like a ball. It was a lot of fun. The frisbee needed to get into the hula hoops which were all over the field. We had to do it in the shortest number to win.
It was a lot of fun for everyone. Pictures to follow.

Above me writing
In front of me I see, sneakily rushing through the tall dimly lit grass, people running to trees. The grass is only visible from the small amount of light as the first few night stars appear. I reach the closest piece of coverage, a patch of extra tall grass. I dive into it in the nick of time. The spotlights turn on, I hear students get caught.
Under me I feel the damp stems of the grass and the slightest bit of mud, where the tall sprouts just hadn't covered the moist earth. I hear some of the slower students run to find shelter from the corresponding shine of the beaming torches. I see the light retreat back into the torches. I jump up and bolt to the next obstacle with mere seconds to spare, the obstacle happened to be a particularly thick/wide tree and whilst running towards it I stumbled over one of its long, wavy roots that was just poking itself out of the squishy ground. It just managed to turn me around so my back was against the tree.
Behind me the tough, edge-munted bark was hard to touch without hurting my back, I started to turn around and just as I had, someone came hurtling towards me and hit the left side of the tree, barely missing me. Then "spotlights on" the words sounded like echoes in the dark night, "you're out" shouted one of the spotlight holders. This was repeated about four times.
I felt relief as the person behind me got caught as they were squishing me into the tree. Above me, I saw the stars again only this time there where more and the previously viewed ones were brighter. "Spotlights off" goes the instructor. I run up, I'm so close! I think I can make it! Then…I get caught…awww, better luck next run. I walk back down the steep hill to the start line. "Spotlights off". I start running.

Victoria's above me, below me camp poem
Spotlight
Above me was the waving branches swaying from side to side. The thin leaves flutter down in my hair. I could see the pitch black sky and the twinkling stars though the gaps in between the leaves.
Below me were the long gnarly tree roots that people accidentally trip over as they sprint to the next tree. The roots were covered fully with smelly, brown dirt and were hid by the thin grass. I could also see the tiny insects crawling up and down the tree.
In front of me were excited children hiding behind the same tree. Trying not to be seen by the bright stoplight that was searching for its victim. Behind them was the gigantic, dark lake that I could barely see.
Behind me was the tall thick tree that I was hiding behind. I could see the the light from the spotlight passing through the sides of the tree. I heard the loud crickets chirping noisily through the night.

Sleeping in the hall
Above me...
Torches are flickering on and off. Hand shapes being projected to the roof using flashing torches. People dancing their unique torches.
Below me...
I lazily laid down on my cozy sleeping bag as I heard Mrs Dowden muttering the words of the exciting book. My pillow that was almost crumpled from all my tossing and turning. The hard, dented floor bugging me as it made the bottom of my warm sleeping bag hard as a rock.
In front of me...
Was the old grey cupboards packed with mystery. The adults slowly walking past me as I snuggled up into my sleeping bag. The small tables that were used to serve the delicious breakfast.
Behind me..
Were the thousands of rows of tired campers snoring as loudly as a horde of angry boars. Miss J's humongous voice echoing through the hall as the lights flashed and went off with a click. Mrs.Poole kept turning on her bright torch, as she walked towards a noisy row.

Above me Below me poem by Derek
Above me…
Brown gnarly branches swayed gently in the calm breeze, while leaves rustled loudly. The chirps from crickets irritated me so much I’ve nearly gone deaf.
Below me…
Thick tree roots grabbed at me daring me to fall. The muddy uneven dirt helped the tree roots as I ventured into the unknown. Leaves scattered all around me , surrounding me, the sound of leaves crunching overwhelmed me, it was so intense.
In front of me…
Vinegar got sprayed at me in the face like a missile, but stinker! Thin, puny branches poked me in the chest while I was holding onto something that would lead me out of this maddens, rope. I could smell victory as I scrambled to the end quickly but carefully.
Behind me…
Freezing cold air smashed into my neck, nearly turning me into an ice cube and freezing me to death. Screams of terror echoed around me wrapping me in. Warm, wet hands touched me trying to make me scream, but it was actually pretty relaxing.

Mikala's Above Me, Below Me poem
Above Me, Below Me, In Front of Me and Behind Me
Above Me
I see thick bushy tree branches shielding the twinkly stars that are high up in the pitch black sky. Trees are swaying in the breeze, letting the leaves flutter down to the ground. I hear crickets high up in the night sky.
Below Me
There was a blanket of leaves covering the dark brown dirt. I feel the light brown dust break and then crumble underneath my hands. The long grass is swaying in the wind.
In Front of Me
The bark covered trees hide me away from the bright shining lights. I see all the year sixes sneakily crawling up the steep hill. There are lights blinding me.
Behind Me
Is a beautiful sparkling ocean. There are people with racing hearts as they run for their life to the tree in front of them. Is someone hiding behind me for protection from the lights?

Two teachers in Room 3
Hi everyone, I would like to welcome Mr Adam Powell to Room 3 for the next 5 weeks. He will be helping me and teaching the wonderful students during this time. Welcome Adam, I hope you have fun with us. Miss J and Room 3.
Fwd: Blog Flags
These are the flags that represent the different cultures that are in Room 3. We talked about what is culture and even if we were born in New Zealand we may relate to other cultures. Some of use were the same so we all worked on a flag together. These flags are flying proud outside the class everyday.
You are welcome to come and check them out.
These flags are amazing and all the flags look like the real thing!

Whanaungatanga Flowers
Room 3 have been getting creative, with Mrs Daniel, on Thursday afternoons. Our beautiful flowers are inspired by symmetry in nature, our observations of patterns in the native bush walk and the concept of whanaungatanga (the interconnection of all things).

Ms J city
The creators of the Ms J City are Cameron, Gabby, Tiffany, Gabe and Danielle. The creators wanted to please Ms J when she came back for lunchtime so they built the Ms J City out of Room 3's maths equipment. They did it in one wet day on 1/3/16. They are really happy about their masterpiece. Ms J was really impressed by their imagination.
