Year 5 Piha Trip

Hi everyone, we had such amazing weather for our Piha trip. The children had a great time in the water and also learning the 10 rules to remember to keep ourselves safe at the beach and also how to identify and what to do in a rip.

Please talk to your children and get them to tell you all about it. I think the boogie boarding was the favourite activity of the day.

These are just a couple of pictures taken on my phone on the day. Enjoy.

sounds of letters for spelling

Hi everyone, below is a link to a page that gives the individual sounds of the alphabet. The children listened to them today. Please talk to them about it and keep revisiting this site. By sounding out the individual letters in words they hear, they can then start writing them, hopefully improving their spelling.

Finding information

Hi everyone, if you accidentally delete a newsletter from your emails, you can find them again on the Sunnyhills website, under WHATS ON. Every newsletter is there for you to print. I have shown all of Room 3 where to find them and also asked that they start looking and commenting on our blog. If you could read the How to Leave a Comment with your children that would be great. Also we would appreciate your comments as well.
If you scroll down a bit and look on the right hand side, there is a translation button to translate into many dialects, also further down, your child's name. If you click on your child's name, it will take you to their work so you don't have to scroll through everything.
We are looking forward to adding lots of learning onto the blog. Happy reading and commenting. Thanks. Miss J.

5 winter Haiku's from Hayley

My Winter Top 5 Haikus’

1.     Smart-looking snowmen, dancing across the ice rink, skating beside me.

2.     Pretty snow angels, embedded in the cold snow, trampled by children.

3.     Warm, cosy blanket, protecting me from coldness, I’m still freezing cold.

4.     Snowflakes fall slowly, as they dance into the sky, flutter towards me.

5.     As the fire burns, I sip my hot chocolate, watching it crackle.

Week 1 in Room 3

Hello everyone, what an amazing week. Please enjoy these pictures of the children using a range of working spaces within the room. I believe there are many ways we learn, not necessarily sitting behind a desk. The hall way is quite popular,

Room 3 is a very diverse class. We talked about where we came from and what cultures we identify with. We recreated our own flags of the countries we have ties to and they are flying proud outside our class.

I would like to also thank room 3 for being so calm when I injured my leg. What an incredible class I have. Miss J.
