Mathew Certificate this week - dance crazy assembly

Mathew was the recipient of this weeks assembly certificate. Well done Mathew, keep up the exceptional work.

Also at assembly this week, Mrs Dowden asked the teachers to come up and have a boggie to the song "Blame it on the Boggie". I had a great time. Hope you all enjoyed watching me have my little dance...

Well done Mathew for making it into the final which was held yesterday afternoon in our school library. Although not placed, Mathew did us proud.

Robotics / coding

Good afternoon, robotics have come to Room 3. We are learning to code the car so it can go around the tracks. It is very difficult. We are trying our best and having a go. We can't wait to get it back in another few weeks as part of the senior rotation. Go robotics.

Term 2 Holiday research

Hi everyone, last term as part of our inquiry the children looked at different countries and how they could come up with a package to "sell" their country. This was done in groups. There was a lot of discussion, research and financial literacy happening at this time.
The children had a budget to work to: the back packers: $5,000 - 10,000, middle of the road 10,000 - 15,000 and then the luxury package of 15,000 - 20,000.
It was amazing to see the children researching air fares, hotels, car rentals, tourist attractions and trying to come up with an extra "edge" that would sell their product. They did a great job.
Enjoy the photos.

Matariki

I have just come across some photos taken  a while back regarding the Matariki celebrations. Room 3 worked with Mrs Daniel to create these stunning art works. Well done team.

Certificates

Here are our latest certificates from a few weeks ago. Congratulations to Gabe, Ayla and Joyce. Well done, keep up the great work you are doing in class. Miss J.

Dance Fesital

Dance  Festival
By Me’a
In room 3 Rebecca, Brianna and I danced in the spectacular event in Elim Christian Church. We were doing this dance to a song called Hey Mickey. Miss Coffer had a theme so that some of us would be cheerleaders and some would be Mickeys.

Once we had learnt the dance Mrs Coffer gave us news that she was going to Singapore for around two or three weeks so she wouldn't be able to come to the performances. We were very disappointed. However, before Miss Coffer left we performed  the dance in front of the school so Miss Coffer could see us. It was great.

Mrs Knoflock gave us some notes on make up, costumes and hair.  Mrs Knoflock and Miss Holiday gave us the Sunnyhills track suits for the rehearsal so that no one got cold. On the rehearsal (Wednesday morning) we did our dance and came back to school. On both nights we were very nervous but got out there and did our best.

Calendar Art

A Paragraph  on Room 3 Calendar art
By Me’a and Mikala

In Room 3 each  of us were allowed to choose what we wanted to do for our Calendar Art.

We went home to discuss our ideas with our parents. Then we were given 3 days to draw and plan a draft. On Thursday we brought  everything  that we needed and were  give the first block to complete our work. When we were finished Miss J put our artwork into a folder so our parents can see if they wanted to buy it. We are proud of our work.

Calendar Art

Room 3’s Calendar Art
Room 3 started our Calendar Art with a draft that we brought from home. Everyone was allowed to choose what they wanted for their calendar. Though everyone had to talk to their parents so our parents got to choose as well. Most of us managed to finish ours in the day that we were given, but we still got some extra time later on. Some  people drew a picture and the others used real photos and glued them on. Most of us did pictures like Sammie and Joyce. Ayla did photos. Lots of people did photos because it was easier and more memorable.

Last week for assembly Karina got a certificate for being a helpful and reliable class member.
Great job Karina.

Minecraft Haiku

Building my first house
In a sunny minecraft day
When a creeper blows

Up and down the mines
Searching for some diamond ore
Armed with a pickaxe

Swimming in lava
Is a weird noob decision
While screaming “mercy”!

Making my first bed
Using wool and wooden planks
Setting my spawn point

Doing PVP
Using swords, bow and arrow
With good enchantments

Eating my first cake
Which tasted really yucky
As I rage quited

Killing the wither
With diamond armor and swords
With lots of potions

Getting an apple
To make a golden apple
With lots of gold blocks

A bunch of brown dirt
With a stack of diamond blocks
To give to a pro

Mandarin Mondays

Monday 1st  August

On Monday we had a really cool guy called Jim come in to our awesome classroom. Jim teaches us Mandarin every Monday now. We learnt how to say and write the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Plus we learnt how to pronounce and write hello in Mandarin. Thanks Jim it was really fun. My favourite part was learning how to pronounce hello in Mandarin.

Mandarin with Jim

Mandarin!
On Monday the 1st of August we were lucky to have a gentleman called Jim come into Room 3 to teach us Mandarin. We really enjoyed it because some of us learnt a bit of a new language. We are also very lucky to have some people who can speak Mandarin like Ethan, Derek, Kenny, Joyce and Michelle. We can learn off them too.

We looked at how to say and write hello "Ni Hao". Also how to say and write the numbers 1 - 5. I really loved it. I believed everyone had a lot of fun.
